Casio XJ-F210WN Projector Review - Summary:  The Bottom Line, Pro and Cons

The Bottom Line

The Casio XJ-F210WN a classroom or conference room projector that is small and light enough to be considered a portable model that could easily be moved between rooms (or buildings) as needed.  It can also be ceiling mounted using an optional ceiling mount.  Casio is certainly the leader in producing business and classroom projectors at affordable prices that offer long life hybrid laser/LED light engines with adequate brightest for most business or classroom applications.

The XJ-F210WN projects a sharp image limited only by its native 1280 x 800 (WXGA) resolution. Although the unit reviewed did not meet the Casio's specified 3500 lumens of light output, it was still plenty bright for most business or education applications.  The warranty coverage period is very good with 3 years on the projector and 5 years or 10,000 on the hybrid light source (as long as the projector is being used less than 12 hours per day).

Unlike some less expensive Casio models we have previously reviewed, this model includes networking support with wired networking built-in and wireless networking via an optional plug-in adapter.  It can handle presentations stored in the projector's internal memory or on a USB flash drive, for a PC-Free presentation.  Also PCs can be connected either thru the analog (composite, s-video, or computer RGB/component) or digital inputs (e.g.., HDMI or USB) or via a wireless network connection (requires the optional wireless network adapter).  Also the screen content from iOS and Android mobile devices can be input via a wireless connection.

Picture quality was very good in Theater color mode and even the brightest color modes produced usable results for when maximum light output is necessary to overcome ambient room lighting.

The Casio XJ-F210WN received our Hot Product Award for its combination of very good performance, great features, low maintenance and a very competitive price.

Pros

  • Long lasting laser/LED light engine
  • Low maintenance with no lamps to replace or air filters to clean
  • Brighter than competitors LED projectors in this price range
  • Among the least expensive classroom/business projectors using a laser/LED  hybrid light engine along with offering network support and providing a reasonably high light output
  • Good built-in wired network support with wireless networking offered via an optional plug-in Wi-Fi adapter
  • Support for computer-free presentations with the presentation files either stored in the projector's internal memory or on a USB flash drive
  • Very good readability for text and PowerPoint slides
  • Good image contrast for this class of projector
  • Very good color accuracy, for this class of projector, in the best available preset color mode (i.e., Theater)
  • Built-in 16-watt speaker can play loud enough for use in a fairly large conference room or classroom, although the sound quality is strictly low fidelity, as is typical for this class of business/education projectors
  • Very Good warranty with 3 years on the projector with upto 5 years on the light source

Cons

  • Light output measured less than manufacturer's specification and is lower than many bulb-based education/business projectors in this price range
