ViewSonic Introduces RGB Laser equipped Home Entertainment projector: LX700-4K RGB

All Industry News

ViewSonic introduces the LX700-4K RGB, a 4K home theater projector with an RGB laser light source. While several Tri-Color Laser TVs are on the market, customers looking for a more traditional projector have few options. Most RGB laser standard throw projectors available previously were expensive, heavy, and massive prosumer models.

This unit is notable because it is one of the first affordable ceiling-mounted RGB Laser standard throw home projectors. Due to its light source, the LX700-4K RGB fully covers the BT.2020 color gamut, allowing the projector to display a stunning array of vibrant, lifelike colors.

The LX700-4K RGB's ability to deliver 4K UHD onscreen resolution and support for 3D and HDR makes it a great option for gamers and Home Theater enthusiasts.

"ViewSonic aims to be at the forefront of redefining home entertainment, continually surpassing expectations and setting new standards in the industry. Understanding the growing demand for immersive, cinema-quality viewing experiences at home, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance everyday living," said Dean Tsai, General Manager of Projector & LED Display Business Unit at ViewSonic. "The LX700-4K RGB showcases our dedication to innovation and meeting consumer needs for superior home entertainment. By offering exceptional image quality and seamless integration into any home setting, ViewSonic continues to push the boundaries of home theater technology, ensuring our products provide outstanding and long-term value for home cinema enthusiasts."

The RGB Laser light source built into the LX700-4K RGB can deliver 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut and 2000 ANSI Lumens for up to 30,000 hours. While the LX700-4K RGB has a rated brightness of 2200 ANSI due to the HK effect, ViewSonic believes viewers will perceive highly saturated images as brighter than less saturated images, which is why they advertise a much higher 5200 RGB Laser Lumens rating.

The LX700-4K RGB can deliver 4K UHD onscreen resolution using a Texas Instruments DLP (0.65-inch DMD) chip. The large DMD chip offers a higher native contrast ratio than the conventional 0.47-inch DMD chip, enhancing details, especially in dark scenes, delivering a cinema-quality experience in various settings.

Since the LX700-4K RGB supports HDR and HLG, the projector's high contrast and wide color gamut reproduction should produce an excellent HDR image.

The LX700-4K RGB includes a 1.6x optical zoom lens and can be utilized with screens up to 300 inches. It offers several installation-focused features to simplify setup. The vertical lens shift feature enables precise vertical adjustment of the projected image's position without physically moving the projector.

In addition, the horizontal and vertical keystone correction, combined with 4-corner adjustment, ensures the projected image is perfectly shaped and symmetrical, even when the projector is positioned off-center. These features allow users to achieve the ideal screen fit and positioning effortlessly.

For those who want to enhance their audio experience, the LX700-4K RGB also features HDMI eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) support, making it easy for users to connect to an external audio system.

The LX700-4K RGB is also a “Designed for Xbox” projector, so it includes many of the game-related features found on the ViewSonic LX700-4K gaming projector we reviewed a few months ago.

The LX700-4K RGB is designed to meet the high demands of gamers who utilize popular consoles like Xbox and PlayStation. Players enjoy games at 1440p resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate, which perfectly balances resolution and refresh rate for an immersive gaming experience.

ViewSonic lists the LX700-4K RGB input lag as low as 4.2 ms at 1080p 240Hz refresh rate and 16 ms at 4K 60 Hz. It provides fluid, detailed images, even during fast-paced action, allowing gamers to enjoy smooth performance without sacrificing image quality.

Based on our experience, the LX700-4K, the new LX700-4K RGB, should be an excellent all-around home entertainment projector capable of delivering an amazing performance whether you're gaming or kicking back watching a movie.
