BenQ EW800ST Smart Classroom Projector Review – Hardware: Control Panel, Remote Control, The Menus

The BenQ EW800ST’s control panel is well laid out. It is located on the top of the projector, towards the back-left corner when facing the projector’s lens. This projector will likely be ceiling mounted, but it is also suitable as a table-top projector, set on a rolling cart, desk, or table. Any way you set it up, the control panel will be easily accessible. However, after initial installation, teachers will likely be using the remote control for all things.

The remote control of the BenQ EW800ST is excellent. It’s lightweight, white in color, making it easy to see even in a mostly-darkened classroom. It has plenty of buttons for quickly accessing things like the Picture Modes, and adjusting Brightness, Contrast, and Light Mode. You can also quickly access Inputs like HDMI and PC, switch to Mouse Function, and use the handy Laser Pointer to point to specific parts of your presentations.

There are two types of menus within the menu system of this BenQ: Basic and Advanced. The above photo shows the Basic Menu, which gives access to many of the basic functions you may need when operating this projector, as well as access to the Advanced Menu.
