MAXELL MP-JU4001 Laser Business Projector Review – Summary: Highlights, Value Proposition, Pros and Cons

HIGHLIGHTS

This business-class 3LCD laser projector with WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution is part of Maxell’s J-Series of projectors. The J-Series is a very feature packed line of mid to bright laser projectors. This projector doesn’t have a lot of competition in its features and price point, which is a plus for the rental house and business market.

Though this 3LCD projector’s $1,829 street price is primarily positioned for business and education use, it would easily be at home, pun intended, as an entry level home theater projector.

This Maxell projector is not only small and light, it's also easily moved from place to place. The MP-JU4001 offers flexible positioning allowing for installations at 360° rotation so no need to worry about orientation because it will perform well at any angle. In addition, the MP-JU4001 offers portrait projection so with the growth of portrait photo capture, portrait video production and cell phones as presentation devices this feature should be very desirable.

The MP-JU4001 comes with a wide range of connectors for users. Also, don’t forget that this projector’s second USB input offers a 5V 2.0A DC power rating so you can power a variety of smart HDMI devices.

The MP-JU4001’s laser light engine is rated for 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation in high power. The MP-JU4001 includes advanced networking capabilities including scheduling of events, centralized reporting, image transfer, and e-mail alerts for reactive and routine maintenance.

The MP-JU4001 offers flexibility and performance to make it a very good candidate for classrooms, museums, small-sized auditoriums and even as a home theater projector.

VALUE PROPOSITION

The Maxell MP-JU4001 is part of Maxell’s J-Series projector lineup and intended to offer a mid-brightness business/education laser projector at an affordable price. Many 4,000 lumen business projectors under $2,000 are DLP units. Remember, the MP-JU4001 is a 3LCD unit, its color brightness output (lumens) equals its white lumen output which can result in better color reproduction.

The DICOM SIM picture mode is great for medical education applications. Maxell’s advanced menu also has more extensive video adjustments which makes it easier to precisely fine tune the image to fit your environment.

The MP-JU4001’s buffet of features coupled with its sub $2000 pricing, 4000 ANSI lumens brightness, compact chassis, and maintenance-free operation makes it a great option for a classroom, a conference room, or even a home.
