InFocus IN72 Projector Review - Warranty

The InFocus Play Big IN72 home theater projector comes standard with a one year parts and labor warranty. The lamp comes with a 6 month warranty, which is three months longer than most of the other projector manufacturers provide.

One year is shorter than most home theater projector warranties, however that is not true in the entry level catagory. Of directly competing (current) home theater projectors we've reviewed, Optoma offers 2 years on the H27, and BenQ offers one year on their new W100 which we reviewed earlier this month. Epson 2 years on their Home 20 projector. So with the four major entry level home theater projectors - two have 1 year, two have 2 year warranties.

InFocus does offer optional 1, 2, or 3 year extended warranties with list prices of $149, $249, and $349. Since any major failure with a projector can cost so much that it makes more sense to toss it out, and replace it with the newest technology, which will no doubt cost less a couple of years out, I would recommend at least buying the one year extended warranty.
