Samsung Freestyle+ Offers Higher Brightness and Smarter Automation Than Previous Models

All Industry News

Unlike previous years, Samsung did not have a booth on the CES 2026 tradeshow floor, but it did have a large space at the Wynn hotel.  This provided the opportunity to see the new Samsung Freestyle +, which is their latest compact, lifestyle-focused portable projector. The new model shares the same cylindrical design as the previous Freestyle, but it offers higher brightness and even more flexible placement.

Samsung’s Freestyle projectors have always been designed around casual projection rather than fixed home-theater installation, and the Freestyle+ continues that philosophy. The compact cylindrical chassis and integrated 180-degree rotating stand allow the projector to be aimed at walls, ceilings, or angled surfaces without additional mounting hardware.

The Freestyle+ has a rated brightness of 430 ISO lumens, which is a substantial step up from earlier Freestyle generations. This added brightness was immediately apparent during the CES demonstrations. While the Freestyle Plus cannot deliver the light output of a larger traditional home-entertainment projector, the additional brightness improves image visibility in typical living rooms, bedrooms, and shared spaces with moderate lighting.

In addition to the increased brightness, to maximize installation flexibility, the Freestyle+ is equipped with Samsung’s AI OptiScreen technology. This set of automated image-adjustment features is designed to minimize manual setup and compensate for the imperfect surfaces often encountered in portable projection

The 3D Auto Keystone feature corrected image distortion even when the projector was aimed at uneven or angled surfaces, while real-time focus can continuously adjust sharpness as the unit is moved or rotated. The Screen Fit and Wall Calibration features worked together to adapt the projected image to the available surface, reducing visible distortion and color irregularities caused by wall textures or finishes. The enhanced Wall Color Correction feature even compensates for wallpaper patterns.

In their space at the Wynn, Samsung demonstrated how quickly the unit could be repositioned from one surface to another. The result was a noticeably faster, more consistent setup process than with earlier Freestyle models.

The projector includes a built-in 360-degree speaker that delivers good sound from its compact enclosure. For users seeking higher sound quality, the Freestyle+ supports Q-Symphony, which lets it work with compatible Samsung soundbars to create a more immersive audio experience.

Like previous Freestyle models, the Freestyle+ functions as a self-contained entertainment device. Built-in access to Samsung TV Plus, certified streaming applications, and Samsung Gaming Hub allows users to stream movies, television, and games directly from the projector without an external media player. Samsung has also integrated its Vision AI Companion platform into the Freestyle+, enabling more natural interaction with the projector via an updated version of Bixby.

Combining auto setup with smart features makes the Freestyle+ a great entertainment solution for dorm rooms, apartments, bedrooms, and temporary setups where simplicity and portability are priorities. While final regional availability and pricing details were not fully disclosed at the time of the show, the Samsung Freestyle+ will be available globally before summer.
