P6X Review - Special Features: Long battery life, onboard media player, solid state light source
The P6X features a 54-watt lithium-ion battery, capable of up to 4 hours of projection time in eco mode. Comparable projectors have a similar battery life, but nowhere near the brightness of the P6X. This is thanks to the emphasis that AAXA put on power efficiency when designing the P6X. It also has an option to use as a battery bank to charge external devices.
Given the P6X’s focus on efficiency, it has limited features outside of the essential functions, but one extra feature it does have is an onboard media player capable of playing various movie types, music, and viewing pictures. This is convenient for consumers that need to take advantage of the portability offered by the P6X (which will likely be most people considering a projector of this type). Supported formats: MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, JPG, AVI, BMP, GIF, TXT.
The P6X utilizes an LED light source rather than a filament or gas bulb, which delivers a bright image while sticking with AAXA’s power efficiency requirements for the design of the projector. The OSRAM LED light source is capable of up to 30,000 hours of essentially maintenance free use; the equivalent of almost 3.5 years of 24/7 use. In theory, LED light sources make images look brighter than ANSI lumen brightness. AAXA claims the projector is capable of 1,100 LED lumens (about 460 ANSI lumens), because the image should look as bright as the image produced by an 1,100-lumen lamp-based projector.
