This is the advanced calibration information for the Epson Pro Cinema 6040UB and Home Cinema 5040UB projectors, available only to our paid subscribers.
This “advanced” calibration data was created while using an early engineering sample of the 6040UB. We believe that full production projectors – which are shipping as of early Sept 2016, will have modified color tables. As a result we plan to revisit these projectors, bringing in a full production version, so we can update our review and provide revised settings due to changes made.
Update: In the regular calibration review page here, I explain that all previous calibrations are mute, that the latest, with screen shots at the bottom of the regular calibration page, are our best. And that everything is in the screen shots, so this Advanced Calibration Page is no longer needed.
In CMS I had to adjust most of the colors (saturation) levels to their extreme negative values to get them close to BT.709. I am confident Epson will fix the issue with the projector displaying the P3 color gamut instead of the BT.709 color gamut for their production units.
Resetting all 6 colors to their default values help bring them closer to their targets.
