Epson BrightLink 485Wi Projector Overview
Epson has introduced some very nice interactive projectors in the past, but the BrightLink 485Wi really is quite an attractive solution. The projector is rated at 3100 ANSI lumens, for both white light, and colored light. Not a typical claim from most manufacturers. It is a native WXGA(1280x800) 16:10 aspect ratio projector, and it is ultra short throw, so you can achieve large images when the projector is mounted only inches from the screen. The total interactive area the projector supports would be image sizes between 60" and 100".
I will definitely get to all the interactive features later in this review, but I want to continue by sharing more about the projector itself. It is capable of accepting HDMI, and all the other legacy sources like composite, and s-video. You can actually annotate over HDMI, and other video sources. You can also do PC free presentations, since it does come with a USB Type A and Type B input.
The BrightLink 485Wi is also inexpensive to maintain. Replacement lamps, as of this writing, are just $79 dollars. Please keep in mind that pricing is very dependent on where you buy the projector. If you are buying it from an authorized reseller for business use, pricing will be different. If you are an educational institution, where you can take advantage of Epson's Brighter Future program, pricing will be often be less than advertised. Consult a Brighter Future authorized dealer to get the best pricing..
Check out of a few of the highlights below, and then lets move on to the more in-depth review. There is plenty worth reading about, that you definitely do not want to miss out on. Too much to list in just an overview.

Epson BrightLink 485Wi Projector Special Features
Easy Interactive Tools
The software suite that comes with the BrightLink 485Wi is very comprehensive, and a myriad of teaching aids make for a pretty impressive level of functionality. It is MAC and Windows compatible.
The BrightLink 485Wi comes with two pens. Each user can have their own pen so a student or teacher can work on problems together without having to always pass the pen.
Interactive with Multiple Sources
On-board interactive tools allow you to annotate over video signals like HDMI and composite, without the software being installed on a laptop. You do however, install software on the laptop for additional functionality when annotating while projecting the signal from your projector. Using the software has the advantage of being able to save your annotations. You can't save your drawings unless you are annotating when the signal is coming from your computer.
Large Image with Projector Mounted Close To Screen
Ultra short throw will allow you mount the projector to the same wall as your WhiteBoard. You can achieve an 80 inch diagonal image by just placing the projector 8.8 inches away. This virtually eliminates shadows cast by projectors that are mounted to the ceiling many feet back. Also, no blinding light when you turn to address your audience.
