Posted on March 17, 2021 by Art Feierman

The ViewSonic M2 Smart 1080P LED projector with Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers (referred to as “the M2” in the remainder of this review) is a 500 ANSI Lumen (1200 LED lumen), full HD (1,920 x1,080) DLP LED-powered business and home media projector designed to be conveniently transported to multiple locations while still providing exceptional image quality and sound.

The M2 has a “shorter throw lens” that makes it convenient to use in small spaces such as offices, classrooms, or dorm rooms. It has an integrated Smart TV interface so users can stream media from their favorite apps, it has automatic focus and four corner keystone correction to make it more user-friendly.

Overview

The ViewSonic® M2 LED smart projector with Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers is a compact business and home media projector with built-in Smart TV interface, document viewer (doc/docx, xls/slsx, ppt/pptx, pdf), and screen mirroring capabilities. It is lamp-free, which means no need for expensive lamp replacements, more environmentally friendly manufacturing, and no need for a cooling-off period when shutting down the unit.

It is a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) 500 ANSI Lumens (1,200 LED) projector capable of up to 30,000 hours of operation in normal mode, with an MSRP of $549.99. It can project up to a 100” screen at just under 9 feet from the projection surface and has dual speakers that are capable of producing quality sound loud enough to fill a medium-sized room (classroom, living room, conference room).

The M2 was designed with the intention of portability with a lightweight, compact design. It is very easy to set up, with user-friendly features, such as auto-keystone correction which automatically corrects trapezoidal images that result from the unit not being perfectly perpendicular to the screen.

ViewSonic has just introduced another M-Series projector called the M2e. While the unit is smaller and not as bright as the M2, it has a slightly shorter throw ratio, shorter throw distance, wider horizontal keystone correction, and lower input lag. The M2e also has a quicker, more precise autofocus.

Due to its compact size, LED light source, smart features, and built-in premium dual Harman Kardon sound system, the ViewSonic M2 is an excellent portable projector option for a conference room, dorm, bedroom, or backyard theater.
